Employee Training

CMS Training at San José State University is provided by full-time software analyst/trainers, fully versed in the topics for which they train. Training may be taken online or in an instructor-led, hands-on environment.

Where should I start?

  1. Determine what your job responsibilities are
There are three major components to PeopleSoft. Will you need to be trained in all of them - Financials, Human Resources and Student Administration? We are here to help you determine the training path that's right for you, so please don't hesitate to contact us.
  2. Review our Recommended Course Tracks
These course tracks should help guide you to the right courses, but if you still need assistance determining where to start, please contact the CMS Training Team. We'll get you to the right place.
  3. Register for (and complete) web-based training
Several courses can be taken via the web and there are typically prerequisites for other courses. To register, visit Synaptis Learning Management System.icon: external link This is a third-party vendor we use to administer our web-based training courses. You will need your SJSU email address, your 9-digits SJSU ID and information about your department. Once you submit your registration, the system will automatically email you a password. Once you receive it, you can get started! For more information, see Web Based Training.

What do I do after I complete the web-based training?

  1. Determine if you should request access or if you need additional training
See Web Based Training to determine if access can be granted based on the training you have already completed. Some courses serve only as a prerequisite and their completion does not guarantee access to the system.
  2. If applicable, complete and submit the System Access Request form (pdf)
Additional access can be granted later based on any additional training you complete, but you may submit the request form after completing the web-based training.
  3. Determine what other training you need and enroll
Review the Search for and Enroll in a Training Course (pdf) guide for information on how to find open courses. If the course(s) you seek are not currently offered, please contact the CMS Training Team.
