FIN007: Finance Overview for Managers

  • Course Type:  Presentation plus Q&A
  • Who should attend:  Managers Only (including department chairs)

This course provides an overview of the Approving Official's fiscal role and responsibilities, the financial systems used to request and approve transactions, and finance policies and guidelines. Taking this course will grant system access to approve departmental transactions in Financial Transaction Services.


FIN008: Introduction to CFS Data Warehouse

  • Prerequisites:  None
  • Course Type:  Hands-on instructor led training
  • Who should attend:  Employees responsible for tracking budgetary and other financial information for their departments

This course provides an introduction to the CFS Data Warehouse 11G, which is used by departments to run financial reports. This course provides instruction and hands-on practice in navigation, creating reports, types of reports, and understanding the information displayed in reports. new users taking this course will be granted system access to the CFS Data Warehouse.


FIN009: Introduction to Finance

  • Prerequisites:  None
  • Course Type:  Presentation plus Q&A
  • Who should attend:  Employees who order and/or request payments for goods and services or is responsible for managing the finances in their department.

This course provides an overview of SJSU policies regarding the departmental acquisition of goods and services and finance management, as well as information about support and services provided by the Finance Service Group. This course is a prerequisite for FIN902, FTS001 and FTS002.


FIN902: Receipts & Inspections

  • Prerequisites:  FIN009
  • Course Type:  Presentation plus Q&A
  • Who should attend:  Employees who receive and inspect items (from purchase orders) that were ordered for their department

This course provides an overview of receiving and inspection procedures. You will learn how to receive and inspect an item that has been marked as receivable and inspection needed on the purchase order. Completing this course will authorize you to request access to the Receipts and Inspections functions of the Common Finance System.


FIN903: ProCard & GoCard Reconciliation

  • Prerequisites:  None
  • Course Type:  Presentation plus Q&A
  • Who should attend:  Employees who have a ProCard and/or GoCard, or who have the responsibility of reconciling ProCard and/or GoCard statements for their department

This course provides an overview of ProCard & GoCard reconciliation procedures. You will learn how to record detailed descriptions of charges, make adjustments to ChartField distributions, print reports and review historical data. Completing this course will authorize you to request access to ProCard & GoCard Reconciliation functions of the Common Finance System.


FTS001: Requisitions

  • Who should attend:  Employees who order goods and services for their department

This course provides instruction on how to navigate in Financial Transaction Services to create and edit Requisitions and RapidReqs. Completing this course will authorize you to request access to the Requisition functions of Financial Transaction Services.


FTS002: Vouchers

  • Course Type:  Presentation plus Q&A
  • Who should attend:  Employees who order and/or request payments for goods and services for their department

This course provides instruction on how to navigate Financial Transaction Services to create and edit Direct Payment Vouchers and Employee/Student Reimbursement Vouchers. Completing this course will authorize you to request access to Voucher functions in Financial Transaction Services.


GL002: Budget & Expense Transfers

  • Who should attend:  Employees who work with their departmental budgets

This course provides information about the purpose of transfers and demonstrates how to enter transfer journals in Financial Transaction Services.
